MHEP Introduces Free Fitness and Workout Classes

ALBANY, NY: The Mental Health Empowerment Project, Inc. (MHEP) is excited to announce the launch of our new fitness and workout classes. Starting immediately, these classes will be held every Thursday from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at our home located at 204 Second Street, Albany, NY 12210. These classes are free and open to individuals ages 18 and up.

Designed to foster both physical and mental wellness, MHEP’s fitness program includes a variety of exercise routines such as cardio, stretching, jogging/walking and resistance training. Each session is led by an instructor who ensures that all participants receive structured training and support tailored to their individual needs.

Amy Colesante, Chief Executive Officer of MHEP, highlights the importance of this initiative: “We believe that physical activity is a cornerstone of mental health. Our new fitness classes are not just about getting in shape—they are about empowering individuals to feel stronger, healthier and more confident. At MHEP, we understand that looking good and feeling good go hand-in-hand, and we are thrilled to offer this innovative program to our community.”

Participants do not need to bring any supplies, as all necessary equipment will be provided. Additionally, water will be available to ensure everyone stays hydrated during the workouts.

The connection between physical activity and mental wellness is well-documented. Regular exercise can alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, improve mood, boost energy levels and promote overall mental well-being. MHEP’s fitness classes provide a supportive environment where participants can experience these benefits firsthand while also fostering positive relationships in their community.
